Deputy VP of Research & Evaluation

About the Role
Reporting to the Vice President for Research and Evaluation, the Research & Evaluation Deputy will help ensure that the R&E Team functions smoothly and effectively, sets priorities and goals that increase The Future Project’s understanding and evidence base about how to unlock possibility in young people, and executes on those goals and priorities powerfully. To do this, the Deputy must be highly strategic, committed to breakthrough learning and innovation, and able to build systems, organize work, and support a high-functioning team.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a key thought partner to the VP of Research and Evaluation, help set R&E goals, priorities, and projects--ensuring that they advance the strategy of TFP powerfully
  • Build systems and structures to manage work and ensure the R&E team is executing on its goals each quarter and year
  • Manage special projects as needed by the VP of Research and Evaluation and the broader Innovation Team
  • Facilitate cross-functional cooperations with other teams at TFP, such as the program design team or the development team, to ensure maximum impact
  • Lead or support on specific, high-priority projects
  • Manage or aide in managing key partnerships, consultants, and other external relationships
  • Identify needs, roadblocks, and opportunities within the R&E team and work with the VP of R&E to ensure team members are supported, inspired, and clear on priorities
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings within R&E and between R&E and other TFP teams

  • Experience or background in research, education, youth development, or nonprofit programs a plus (but not required)
  • Strong ability to think strategically and help plan projects and workstreams toward achieving goals, especially in the realm of research and evaluation goals
  • Familiarity with structures, processes, practices of a R&E team and how to build a great culture and systems for such a team
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack, and other communication platforms
